Our On Grid Power Products Include:
On Grid Solar Energy Systems in Northern California:
By installing a solar energy system you can change sunlight to electricity. Each day sunlight hits the panels installed on your Northern California roof with photons or particles of sunlight. Using a solar energy system the sunlight is turned into electricity. There is also a 30% tax credit for on-grid systems.
So, you are probably asking yourself, "How does the system work?" The answer is actually quite simple and is as follows.
A solar systems produces more power than you use during the daytime and exports the excess power to the grid. You get credit for this excess power at night and on cloudy days. When your system is not producing more than you need, you will buy power back from the grid and use these credit. A utility net meter tracks the power imported and exported to the grid. Your utility company will bill you for the "net" consumption of the billing period and also give you credit for any excess during a billing cycle in which you can carry for up to one year.

What is an off-grid power system?
An off-grid power system is a generating system that provides electrical power to a home or site that does not have access to the power grid. In its simplest form it would be a fossil fueled generator. However, due to the high cost of fossil fuels most off-grid systems today consist of generators, inverters, batteries and alternative energy sources such as wind and solar. These systems provide continuous power and are often automatic in operation. When designed properly these systems minimize fossil fuel consumption in the generation electrical power.
Remote Off-Grid Building with Solar Electricity in Northern California:
You are ready to build on your Northern California land, only there is no utility power available? What are your options? You can ask your local utility to extend new power lines, but the cost is prohibitive, for example, the Pacific Gas & Electric Utility of California now estimates $75,000 per mile to extend new power lines and then you pay electric bills for the rest of your life. Your monthly bill growing as the utility rates increase. Or you can use an engine generator as a source of power, however the cost of fuel and maintenance is high for generators, and this can be difficult but not impossible to get away from the noise and pollution it produces. By going off-grid with Wing Solar & Wood Energy, Inc. you can dramatically reduce your energy costs.
Solar Electric Power Systems in Northern California:
Solar electric systems are reliable, silent, pollution-free, and are extremely low maintenance. A typical stand-alone power system includes solar electric modules, safety switchgear, batteries and a DC to AC inverter. Solar electric photovoltaic (PV) modules convert sunlight directly into electricity and the inverter conditions that electricity into the household current.
System Reliability in Northern California:
With no moving parts, PV power systems utilize solid state-of-the-art technology and are extremely reliable. Most solar electric modules have a 40 year design-life and are covered by a 25 year warranty. Solar systems are easily expandable should your need for power increase in the future. Solar is property tax free.
Hybrid Power Systems in Northern California:
Because solar electric generators produce electricity only in the daytime, your off-grid system utilizes a bank of large, deep-cycle batteries to store the electricity produced during the day, for use at night, or on overcast days. Additionally, other sources of power, such as a wind generator, or engine generator can be used as a suitable source of backup power to supplement the solar system during winter months. The inverter controls automatically start and stop of the engine generator to keep your batteries fully charged when the solar wind is insufficient.
The FLEXmax Family By Outback Power in Northern California:
As the very latest innovation in Maximum Power Point Tracking the FLEXmax family of charge controllers by Outback are designed to increase your photovoltaic power by up to 30%. When you demand a high performance, efficient and versatile charge controller for power system, FLEXmax is your solution. Contact Wind Solar & Wood Energy, Inc. to learn more.
Wind Power in Northern California:
Wind generators are subject to property tax. As the wind is an indefinite part of nature, the reliability of wind power is also indefinite. Wind works well with solar as wind blows more in the winter, when the sun is shining the least.
"Eddy" By Urban Green Energy in Northern California:
Manufactured by Urban Green Energy, a leader in small wind energy, "Eddy" will reduce your energy consumption. It will keep your Northern California home warm in the winter while also making a huge contribution to saving our environment. Eddy can also be assembled in less than an hour and be mounted virtually anywhere. Whether you already have a wind turbine or you are considering purchasing a new one, Eddy is "wind ready" so that you can produce alternative energy day or night. To learn more about "Eddy" please contact your customer care team at Wing Solar & Wood Energy, Inc.
Solar Water Heating in Northern California:
Residential hot water systems can use solar collectors to preheat the water that is coming in to your existing gas or electric water heater. The warmer the water coming from the solar pre-heater, the less gas or electricity is required to heat the water to the desired temperature. During the summer months, a properly sized solar hot water system will provide almost 100% of a Northern California households needs, and on an annual basis they will provide approximately 60% - 70% of the energy needed to heat household water. Solar hot water works well with an Outside Wood Fire Water Furnace.
Solar Assist/Gas, Oil or Wood Furnace Backup System in Northern California:
In-floor radiant space heating uses hot water delivered to tubing built into the floor to heat your Northern California home. Because radiant heating heats objects and not the air, it is much more efficient than conventional forced-air furnaces. While the initial cost is higher (typically 30% - 40%) than conventional heating, the annual operating cost of radiant heating is nearly 20% - 30% less.
Over the life of the home, radiant floor heating pays for itself without using solar energy. Now consider that a radiant heating system can use solar heated water and produce 50% or more, of your space heating needs. (employing a backup gas, oil or wood fire furnace hot water source)
Solar Pool Filtration Package in Northern California:
Solar powered pool filtration pumping packages allow you the luxury of a swimming pool on remote building sites in Northern California. A solar electric pool pumping system uses energy efficient DC pumps to perform pool filtration. Because the pump is connected directly to the solar panels, it starts running shortly after sunrise and continues until shortly before sunset. These systems run longer during summer days.
Solar Water Pumping For Wells in Northern California:
Another crucial factor in the decision to build 'off-grid' is the availability of water. Where it is feasible to drill a well, solar electric water pumping is also an economical way of pumping that water out of the ground. There are many different types of solar water pumping systems, from lower-flow deep well DC submersible pumps, to higher yield AC surface pumps for various agriculture and aquaculture applications. Your daily water requirements, the amount of sunshine available at your Northern California location, the total vertical lift, the horizontal run, the well 'yield' and the size of your pipeline, must all be factored into designing the most economical pumping package to best meet your agricultural and residential needs.
Energy Efficient Lighting & Appliances in Northern California:
One of the most effective ways to reduce the size, and the cost of a solar system is to reduce your need for electricity by using energy efficient lights and appliances. While other more basic strategies include orienting the building to maximize southern exposure for solar space heating, super-insulation and day-lighting to reduce daytime lighting loads.
Life-Cycle Cost in Northern California:
Solar power systems are less expensive to own and operate than an engine generator. While the upfront cost of an engine generator is less than a solar electric power system, over the life of the engine generator, the cost of fuel, maintenance, and replacement parts exceed the cost of a solar electric generator.
